Greetings, Rotarians and Guests!

Our Rotary Club is here to serve as your local and global resource for enacting positive change, ranging from local service projects to major nationwide endeavors. We rely on local business leaders who seek involvement in their community, working with like-minded professionals to network and expand our reach. We’re always excited to welcome new members, and will be posting about our weekly updates to give you a sneak peek into what goes on in our meetings.

If you’re interested in learning more about what the Rotary Club of Santa Monica has to offer, or you missed out on your weekly update, keep reading to catch up on the major points from last week’s meeting.

Our Guest Speakers

We want to thank Emily Ausbrook and Harris Levey, who told us more about their lives last Friday.

Connecting With the Community

Part of Rotary’s mission is to connect with our local community and enact meaningful and productive relationships with individuals and businesses.

Connecting With the World

Eradicating Polio:

Judy Neveau spoke about how important it is to eradicate Polio worldwide. She spoke of World Polio Day, which is this Thursday, October 24. Judy also passed around the Red PolioPlus sneaker for donations, and collected $147. For those that missed it, Jim Reidy was in attendance with his Rotary tie, featuring the chemical composition of Polio on it!

Foundation Celebration:

Bret Carter spoke about the Rotary District 5280 Foundation Celebration happening this Sunday, October 27, as well as the Paul Harris raffle tickets that are available for purchase. If you’re interested in purchasing raffle tickets, let Bret know, and be sure to reach out to Savi if you want to attend the celebration.

Connecting With Each Other

Halloween Party:

In order to spur growth within our community and the world, we must be able to connect with one another on a personal level. Kathy reminded everyone that our Halloween party will be from 7 to 10pm at David Rosenfeld’s house on October 26, so be sure to RSVP to Savi if you plan on attending!

Rose Parade:

Greg Hargrave announced that 13 spaces were available on our team tasked with decorating the Rotary Float for the Rose Parade. The spaces will be available December 29.
