ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK
Mara Berke – Club Member Since 2021
Mara was born in New York and grew up in Brentwood. She has lived in Santa Monica for about 9 years. She went to elementary school at the Center for Early Education, secondary school at Brentwood High School, college at UC Berkeley, and graduate school at Loyola Law School and the USC School of Social Work. Mara has one son, Dante, who attends the University of Chicago, and a loyal Havanese dog, Lola, who has remained home with her. Mara is an experienced family law attorney. She has her own practice, Berke Family Law in Santa Monica, and is also Of Counsel to the Jaffe Family Law Group in Century City. Mara is a Board Member of the Los Angeles Lawyer Editorial Board and the Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association. She tries to help families have an amicable divorce. Mara has volunteered at Palisades Charter High School and the Los Angeles Unified School District College Palooza by speaking on “College Financial Aid Tips for Divorced, Separated and Unmarried Parents”. Mara has also volunteered her time as a Court Assisted Special Advocate (Dependency Court), represented children, performed school placement assessments for children with special needs and advises parents who have children on the autism spectrum. Mara enjoys tennis and pickleball. Her favorite place to be, other than at the Santa Monica beach with Lola, is at a national park. One of her favorite parks is Yellowstone. Mara is excited to be a new member of the Rotary Club and looks forward to meeting you.
