Lauren Akmaeva – Club Member Since 2021

Lauren Clifford Akmaeva joined our club in 2021. She is from Buffalo, NY where she studied finance and accounting at SUNY Buffalo. There she was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, a professional business honors society for accounting students; she was President of the local chapter her senior year.

After working a few years at PricewaterhouseCoopers she took a job at in Santa Monica. For the next decade she worked for local technology companies implementing ERPs and managing accounting departments. She now works for a real estate development firm in Santa Monica doing financial reporting and accounting.

Lauren is the oldest of four girls. Lauren spent her childhood biking around Hamburg, NY with kids who are still her close friends, some of whom even live in Santa Monica now, too. Lauren loves to sing and as a child got to sing with choirs at places including Carnegie Hall, Notre Dame, and Canterbury Cathedral. Lauren’s parents are still in Buffalo while her sisters and four nieces and nephews live in New York, Chicago, and Rochester.

Lauren loves to travel and has driven solo between the east coast and the west coast multiple times visiting friends and locations she read about in western novels. Her favorite places to visit include Santa Fe, New Mexico; Montevideo, Uruguay; Niagara Falls, Ontario; Paris; and St. Petersburg, Russia. Lauren has attended far too many concerts, music festivals, musicals, and theatre performances to count. Lauren and her husband Artur Akmaev are always eager to see a ballet, attend a heavy metal festival, hike, or hang out by the pool.

Lauren and Artur live with their two small children, Monica (3) and Nina (1), in Santa Monica. Lauren enjoys swimming, running, yoga, crosswords, and reading. You might find Lauren participating in local sprint-distance triathlons, visiting family in Moscow, swimming laps at the Y, or walking her children to daycare through Palisades Park.
