ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK  – Susan Gabriel Potter, Club Member since 2010

Susan Gabriel Potter is the second generation to take the helm of ISU Bob Gabriel Co. Insurance founded by her father, the late Bob Gabriel, a long-time member of the Community.  The Gabriel insurance firm is one of the few remaining family businesses which were so prevalent when Bob started the firm over fifty years ago. One of her proudest moments was receiving in 2016 the California Best Small Business Award given by Ted Lieu.

Susan earned her Bachelor’s degree from UCLA with a focus on psychology. Outside of ISU Bob Gabriel Co. Insurance, Susan has been involved in community projects dear to her heart.  Her parents, Bob and Louise Gabriel spent most of their lives dedicated to finding a permanent home where our city treasures would be preserved and shared with our community for generations to come.  On October 24th 2010, the grand opening of the Santa Monica History Museum took place.

Susan currently serves on the UCLA –Santa Monica Hospital Board,  Santa Monica College Associates, Boys and Girls Club,  President of the Santa Monica History Museum as well as a Rotarian and Past Vice-Chair of the Chamber of Commerce…

Susan’s hobbies and interests include spending quality time with family and friends, music, dancing, reading, fine dining and being of service to her family, friends, and community.  A native of California, Susan was born and lives in Santa Monica with her husband and partner in business, Pat Potter.  She has two sons Patrick and Bryan.

Susan’s Fun Fact: She was in love with Elvis Presley and in her younger days would do impressions of him at friends and family parties…
