I simply must give a shout out to Len Lanzi, he teamed up with Ken Waltzer this week to manage our Zoom with a special announcement from Kera Blades Snell, live, all the way from her hometown in Belize, Central America. Kera is setting up a Day of Service for our Club the day following The District Humanitarian Trip to Belize March 23-31st, 2023. Details will follow please plan to join us.
Vicky Curtis, Co-Chair of our Wine Festival presented Andrea Murray of “Safe Place For Youth” a check for $14,350.00 which were the proceeds from our “Fund A Need” portion of the Wine Festival. The Wine Festival raised over $91,000.00 for our club’s budget for this year. Our Wine Festival this Rotary year is scheduled for Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at the Santa Monica Bay Women’s Club.
District Governor Olivia Patterson Ryans presented awards to the following members of our club. The Rotary Club of Santa Monica’s McGyver – J.B. Bartlett; Our most involved Rookie – Karin Wallerstein; Our Most Inspirational Member – Pam Brady; and Our Most Imaginative Member – Vicky Curtis. Each is a deserving member who is an example of Service Above Self.
District Governor, Olivia, shared her “Rotary Moment” in her remarks to our club. She also shared her vision for the District with emphasis on her theme, “Rotarians Inspiring Hope”. She has changed the District Breakfast to a quarterly District Brunch on a Sunday afternoon.

George Collins, The Party Phantom, offers a special invitation to all Rotarians. Come experience a night on the town at the historic 1928 Art Deco Cicada Restaurant and Lounge. You are invited to an evening of fine dining, cocktails, live music, dancing, and a fabulous show with the music of the Johnny Holiday Orchestra and the Honey Tap Dancers. The Cicada Club is in the James Oviatt Buildinglocated at 617 S Olive St. Los Angeles, CA 90014. The date is Saturday, September 17, 2022. Dinner is at 7:15 PM. The show starts at 8:30 PM. Tickets to the show cost $25 if they are purchased before the show. We are trying to arrange for a price fixed dinner, otherwise, the dinner is a la carte. If you don’t dance, come for the show. If you don’t have a dance partner, come anyway. You will not be disappointed.
