World Community Service Community
International Food Festival.

As announced last month, the Club is planning its first International Food Festival to be held on Sunday, April 27 at Tom Loo's home in Malibu.  The festival will be an afternoon food event to celebrate the diversity within our Club and to give our Members and their families a chance to sample foods from the various ethnic groups currently represented in our Club.  We are expecting a turn-out of several hundred of our members and family.

Approximately 20 ethnic groups are represented in our Club, and we are seeking volunteers to help us with respect to representing that group for the event. (We have already received many volunteers and we believe that we can't have too many.) So please volunteer to help cook or order from a food source and bring a great ethnic dish to the event.

Here's the plan.  We will request club members who will be joining us (along with their families) to make a contribution to cover the cost of the event and allocate those funds amongst the various volunteers who will be responsible for coming up with an authentic dish(es) from their homelands. They can either make or buy the dishes reflecting a particular ethnicity. The amount of the food from each group will be dependent upon the number of
ethnic groups and volunteers we have.  Also, recognize that even if you and your ancestors have been in the US for several hundred years,  your background may qualify you for a unique part of America, e.g. the South, New England.   However, typical  California cuisine (hamburgers, hot dogs and fries) will not be recognized as an appropriate ethnic group.

If you have a favorite food that you would like to see provided at the event, please volunteer or at least let us know.

Please contact Karim Jaude (310-471-4185;  Karim@dynamicscapital.com)  or Tom Loo (310 586-7890; LOOT@GTLaw.com) if you wish to volunteer.  You will have the time of your life, believe us.

March 29, 2003 - Saturday
Immunization Clinic - St. John's Hospital. Actual clinic is from 10:00 AM to Noon.
For Rotarians, the first shift starts at 9:00 AM as we have to do setup.  Rotarians are not expected to spend three hours at St. John's. We try and arrange for one hour shifts if we have enough volunteers.  Even if you can't be there for the whole clinic the hour between 9:00 and 10:00 is critical.
