Rick Auerbach is the 24th Assessor of Los Angeles County, re-elected to a four-year term in March with 70 percent of the vote. He was first elected to
office in a special election in 2000, following his appointment by the Board of Supervisors that same year.
The focus of Assessor Auerbach's administration has been to combine the

of 10 million county residents. He leads the largest property assessment agency in the nation with some 2.3 million parcels. This includes 1,500
employees and a budget of more than $113 million. After a 32-year career with the department, beginning as a personal property
appraiser, Mr. Auerbach was appointed to the top post following the retirement of former Assessor Kenneth P. Hahn. He served as Assistant
Assessor and was liaison with the State Legislature, the State Board of Equalization and the California Assessor's Association.
He co-authored the state-county Property Tax Administration contract which provides Los Angeles County $13.5 million annual state funding and serves as
a model for all 58 counties. Mr. Auerbach also led the department's business process re-engineering effort.
He is a member of the Society of Auditor-Appraisers and is an active local Board Member of the International Association of Assessing Officers.
Mr. Auerbach graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance and completed over 50 units of graduate work in Accounting and Management.
