Rotary Remembers Bill Aspinwall

On January 13, 2006, we lost our friend and colleague, Bill Aspinwall, a 16-year-member of our club. Bill was a principal of Tegner-Miller Insurance Brokers, one of the oldest companies in Santa Monica. He joined the insurance agency in 1981 following his graduation from California State University, Northridge, where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration. In 1990, Bill and his partner purchased The Tegner Company from retiring partner Ian Grant, and six years later merged with Miller & DeCray Insurance Brokers, owned by Rotarian Ken Miller. During his career, Tegner-Miller grew from an agency with four employees to more than 40 insurance professionals.

Bill joined Rotary in 1989, serving as vice president from 1995-1996, treasurer from 1994-1995, and director from 1991-1993. Sharing his love of the links with his fellow Rotarians, he chaired several of our successful Rotary golf tournaments throughout the years. He also greatly enjoyed the Rotary reading programs in our local schools. He was born in 1958 in Denver, Colorado. Bill is survived by his wife, Gail, and their two children, Jennifer and Michael.
