returned to the Riviera Country Club, which underwent an extensive
remodeling project. Song Leader, John Miller, leads Rotarians in God
Bless America and welcomed everyone back to the Riviera Country Club. |

| October 20, 2006: Ann Greenspun, Director of Club Services,
presents guest speaker, Robert Ross, volunteer pilot and former member
of the Board of Directors of Angel Flight America, with a special book
on Santa Monica in appreciation for speaking with the Rotary Club of
Santa Monica.
Angel
Flight America provides access for people in need seeking free
air transportation to specialized health care facilities or distant
destinations due to family, community or national crisis. |

| October 6, 2006: Bill Fritzche shared some personal stories
about his days as a young Rotarian and his first impressions upon
meeting the President of the Jaycees (Paul Priollo) - "cocky", and its
Treasurer (Bill Mortensen) - "clueless". The three would
eventually form close, lifelong friendships. Bill also shared some
interesting facts about water and the importance of water conservation. |

Tirone, instructed everyone to wave napkins to a steering rendition of
"God Bless America". |

President Jim Dyer levies a $400 fine after some confusion over USC's
national academic ranking (15th vs 4th). Since this is football
season, the only ranking that truly matters is the AP College Football
ranking. |

On July 21, 2006 Past President Judge Ed Rafeedie
returned to give us the real story on Rotary at the Miramar. We
also picked up some insight on the role of Judge's in the judicial system,
punctuated with a little humor to keep our attention. Judge Rafeedie was introduced by Jack Michel, who served as Ed's Vice
President back in 1977-78. |

| The meeting was closed with Marv Levin presenting Ed with a
Paul Harris Fellowship. |

On July 14th, Santa Monica's new City Manager P. Lamont
Ewell shared his views on effective management and leadership.
Following his talk, VP Klaus Mennekes presented Lamont with a history of
Santa Monica book. |
