In case you didn't know, Savi does opera and was
"recognized" for her upcoming concert at Corpus Christi Church featuring opera and show tunes

If you missed the Wine Tasting party last weekend,
you missed a heck of a party.  Karim proudly
announces that in addition to all the fun, we raised
about $10,000 for our international programs 
Today's program featured Dr. Gary Mangiofico,
CEO of Los Angeles Universal Preschool,
on the importance of early childhood education 




Accompanying Dr. Mangiofico are Beth Lowe and
Terri Hernandez Rosales from LAUP,
and Jill Hoffman from Clive Hoffman Associates
(security provided by RCSM)
Also enjoying the program were Sheryl Monaughan with
her daughter Tene Medofrd

Continuing the travelogue is Gene Shank
recently returning from a 15 day Scandinavian cruise

Pat Barrett recently celebrated his
34th anniversary with his wife Carla
Our speaker Jim Harris is the Santa Monica Pier Historian
and Community Event Liaison for the Santa Monica Pier Restoration Corporation.  His first took a job tending bar at the Boathouse restaurant in 1989 and hasn't left the pier since

August 14, 2009 - Craft Talks

Greeting everyone at the door today were

Carol levies some heavy fines today.  First up
is Eric Schmitter for his trip to Cape Cod and
his new cash-for-clunkers Prius




Paul Gaulke and Glenn Ricard shared a fine --
actually, it seemed more like a service charge for
President Carol have to make a special delivery of
their trophies from the Carlthorp School golf
tournament.
  They had left early before the trophies were handed out.
Ray Briem was recognized for the several great radio shows
he  had with Les Paul as his guest.  Les Paul is credited with
inventing the solid-base electric guitar, causing a sea change
in popular music. 

President Carol reported that Ray has a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame.




Glenn Ricard got a solo fine for his family vacation in Connecticut...

He says he caught 30 fish and no big ones got away.
Alonzo Hill was fined for his Washington, DC family
vacation.  Reported that he went to all the usual landmarks
and museums, but denied that he visited either Quantico
or the J. Edgar Hoover Building




Judy Neveau was fined for her study tour in Turkey.
She claimed that no alcohol was consumed because
Turkey is a Muslim country. 

Carol expressed skepticism.

Judy also stopped of in Berlin to visit the head of
the German GSE team who has stayed with her
when that team visited us several years ago.

Julia Miele, Executive Director of the Santa Monica YWCA
tells us about her prior work at the AIDS Healthcare
Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
She has also worked in India and Japan.
Julia lives in Santa Monica with her daughter Isabella
and Isabella's guinea pig, Princess Mabell
