Presidential Dinners 2005

On September 8, 2005 and for the third year in a row, the Rotary Club of Santa Monica hosted the first of four Presidential Dinners for District 5280.  Approximately ninety were in attendance.  The idea is for all the current year presidents to get to know each other and the District leadership in an intimate atmosphere.

Once again, the dinner--program was a huge success.  President Paul Leoni and his able Board of Directors gave the district an evening to remember and an event that would make all in the Rotary Club of Santa Monica proud.  The event was held at the new Rand facility (Thank you Iao Katagiri).  The highlight of the evening was the goal set by District Governor Ingo Werk to raise $100,000 for a similar District in Louisiana for Hurricane Katrina.  Led by the Rotary Club of Santa Monica (we promised a minimum of $15,000 ) and other generous District 5280 clubs approximately $75,000 was committed that evening.  The Rotary Club of Los Angeles handed a check to Governor Ingo for $10,000.
